Wibu-Systems brings a message of hope to Compamed and Medica

Deel op:

Security and safety for clinical investments and operations

Wibu-Systems protection, licensing, and security technology is used by remarkable vendors like Agfa HealthCare, customed, Dentsply Sirona, and Fritz Stephan

At this year’s edition of Compamed, the leading international trade fair for the suppliers and manufacturers of medical technology, and Medica, the world’s largest event for the medical sector, both hosted in Dusseldorf, Germany, from 12 to 15 November, Wibu-Systems and its prestigious partners are showing how a combination of security measures and new business models can create win-win-win situations for manufacturers, operators, and patients.

The Medica Tech Forum in Hall 12, E73-F67, has built its agenda around the digitization of the healthcare industry and the underpinning regulatory, commercial, and safety implications. The international leader in secure license management, Wibu-Systems, and its ecosystem of experts will drill down into the challenges and options for safer medical devices and IT. On November 15th, 11 am to 2 pm, a veritable parade of medical and technology authorities will tackle all facets of modern healthcare infrastructures:

  • At 11.00 am, Dr. Nicolas Kraemer, Sales Director of the Municipal Clinic Neuss – Lukas Hospital, that was held hostage by ransomware just two years ago, will elaborate on the dangers of our digital age coming from unknown sources.
  • At 11.30 am, Christoph Fischer, Executive Partner from BFK edv-consulting, will address the wide spectrum of threats brought about by current cyberattacks.
  • At noon, Dr. Ing. Georg Heidenreich, Healthcare IT Standards & Regulatory Manager at Siemens Healthineers, will talk about the challenges posed by modern connected medical devices.
  • At 12.30 pm, Roland Chochoiek, Electronics Business Unit Manager of Heitec, will focus on the new regulatory requirements (MDR) in manufacturing and how they affect medium-sized enterprises specifically.
  • At 1.00 pm, Oliver Winzenried, CEO and founder of Wibu-Systems and also member of the board of directors of the Medical Technology working group of VDMA, the German Engineering Federation, and member of the board of directors of Bitkom, the German digital association, will cast some light on the relation between IP protection, cybersecurity, and monetization applied to the healthcare business.
  • At 1.30 pm, Niklas Kuczaty, Project Manager on the VDMA’s Medical Technology working group, will host an open discussion between the above lineup of professionals and the wider public.

On November 13th, 1.55 to 2.25 pm, Oliver Winzenried will also offer his view from the trenches at Compamed Suppliers Forum, Hall 8b, booth G40. In a landscape that sees additive manufacturing, software and security, regulatory affairs, and medical innovations dominating the scene, his expertise on how medical device manufacturers can merge security with new business models in their pursuit of new commercial aspirations and quality standards will be pretty revolutionary.

Oliver Winzenried believes that the European norms about to be enforced will be the opportunity to transform the sector from the ground up: “When lives are at stake, security is non-negotiable. Hospitals and medical device makers are not just exposed to material theft; the safety of patients and their confidential data, the software operating critical medical equipment, and the IP invested by medical technology specialists are now major targets. In a global marketplace, a new approach to designing medical units can also win the producers new market share and recurring revenues.”
