Industry 4.0, Big Data, and Blockchain technology are just three of the common terms that characterize the current digital transformation. However, the increasing interconnectivity also brings about risks which came to the public’s attention with the ransomware attacks of the recent months. Covered less in the news, but still a major hurdle for any software-powered company, subtler attacks in the form of piracy, reverse engineering, and tampering continue to undermine commercial livelihoods everywhere.

With the new event series "Corporate Future", the Institute of Applied Sciences of the University of Offenburg intends to build a bridge between its own strengths – application-oriented research, innovation and technology transfer – and the challenges companies face in their everyday work.

The free workshop scheduled for October 24th will provide insights from Professors and PhD students from the University of Mannheim and the University of Applied Sciences of Offenburg into current developments that are emerging in the field of corporate and IT security. At the end of the program, there will be an opportunity to engage in a close dialogue with the experts.

At 3.10 pm, Professor Dr. Andreas Schaad (Professor for IT Security at HS Offenburg) will speak about Cloud-based software protection and licensing for Industry 4.0 and shed light on the association between cloud security and ubiquitous security. In his lecture, he will reveal details about the "CloudProtect" project, carried out jointly by Wibu-Systems and TU Darmstadt. Financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the project aims at providing a clear and secure framework for cloud licensing in the context of Industrie 4.0.
