Anaheim, California, USA

MD&M is the largest annual medical technology event in the world, bringing together more than 20,000 engineers and MedTech professionals, all focused on learning and collaborating on state-of-the-art medical device and manufacturing technologies. The conference and exhibition will showcase a wide range of products and services geared towards the advancement of healthcare.

With the recent attention given to vulnerabilities and security threats that have been exposed in connected medical devices, cybersecurity policies, technologies and implementation methods will be a main focus of the MD&M event. Failure to maintain cybersecurity can result in compromised device functionality, loss of data (medical or personal) availability or integrity, or exposure of other connected devices or networks to security threats. These security breaches have the potential for catastrophic consequences resulting in patient illness, injury or even death.

Wibu-Systems will be on-hand in Hall E, Booth #976 in the German Pavilion to meet with developers and manufacturers to discuss our patented solutions for medical technology security, including prevention of device tampering and hijacking; vulnerability assessment; integrity protection of code and data; protection against counterfeiting and reverse engineering; and license lifecycle management. These patented solutions are in practice today in numerous healthcare-related businesses. For example, Wibu-Systems’ CodeMeter technology is used to protect the intellectual property of Agfa HealthCare’s Easy Payment Scheme for Computed Radiography. Fritz Stephan, a world leader in the development of specialized systems in ventilation anesthesiology and oxygen supply, uses CodeMeter to upsell new licenses over the Internet and conveniently modify the features set of its devices. Sirona, a spin-off of Siemens’ medical business unit, uses CodeMeter to protect its intellectual property, prevent reverse engineering and avoid manipulation of its medical appliances.

Innovation Hour

Attendees on the exhibition floor will hear 5-minute “information bursts” from exhibitors about their most exciting product offerings and services being shown at the meeting during the daily “Innovation Hour” to be held at Center Stage. Marcellus Buchheit, President and CEO of Wibu-Systems USA, will present the CodeMeter Protection, Licensing and Security Platform for Medical Device Software on Wednesday, February 7, from 11:15 – 12 noon.
