SAE World Congress

12 April 2016 - 14 April 2016

The SAE 2016 World Congress assembles the best talent in the automotive industry; experts, management teams, engineers, and executives alike gather to collaborate and address current challenges, seek new windows for discovery and exploration, and promote the multitude of opportunities fundamental for a successful future. This year's theme, Powering Possibilities, represents a world of untapped discoveries in the automotive industry.

Under the umbrella of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), Wibu-Systems will take part in the TechHub on April 14th, alongside the Drive Trust Alliance, Fujitsu, Infineon Technologies, Tempered Networks, and Toyota.

The TCG develop, defines and promotes open specifications, supportive of a hardware-based root of trust, for interoperable trusted computing platforms, including embedded systems and the IoT. Its industry standard (ISO) Trusted Platform Module (TPM) specifications are used in billions of devices, and other TCG specifications for secure networks and self-encrypting drives are implemented widely in products from thousands of manufacturers.

With its commitment to protection, licensing, and security, Wibu-Systems sees great technical and commercial potential in the use of TPMs as secure elements for storing sensitive data, like encryption keys, license activation files, and information concerning intellectual property. In his demonstration on IP Protection and Flexible Licensing Applied to TPM Connected Devices, Marcellus Buchheit, CEO of Wibu-Systems USA, will show how to protect an application against reverse engineering and counterfeiting and license several of its features individually. The process relies entirely on CodeMeter, the all-in-one platform for the protection of IP and production data for intelligent manufacturing. He will then illustrate how the protected license is bound to a TPM secure element in the target system, and how the license creation and deployment workflow can be seamlessly integrated in business processes, e.g. ERP systems or e-commerce platforms. The journey of exploration will end with a look at how to enable new business models for intelligent and IoT devices.
