Once again, Medica, the world’s forum for the medical industry, will be running in parallel to Compamed. The strategically co-located events are set to ignite an interdisciplinary debate in the medical community around health and medical technology. Medica will specifically focus on areas such as electro-medicine, laboratory medicine and diagnostics, physiotherapy, medical technology, information and communications technology, hospital equipment, and commodities and consumable articles.

With the introduction of connected healthcare, the healthcare model is turning from acute and reactive to proactive and preventive. The crossover between lifestyle and medicine is reaching new peak levels and set to provide constant monitoring of the patient’s most crucial clinical parameters. Technology and medicine are becoming intertwined making a holistic paradigm applicable in all healthcare sectors.

With these changes, the digitization of patient services needs to meet two main criteria: data security and custom service. Wibu-Systems’ CodeMeter technology for protection, licensing, and security:

  • facilitates the introduction of security-by-design approaches that safeguard patients’ records,
  • introduces personalized treatments with license-based features,
  • and regulates data ownership and protects the intellectual property of device makers and software publishers.

For instance, Sirona, the German dental powerhouse, uses the complete potential of CodeMeter: their software is protected against piracy and reverse engineering with the ultimate encryption technologies while each patient receives a customized, milled filling designed on the spot in a single session at the dentist’s office.

Furthermore, Custo med, a German medical diagnostics producer, is using the licensing power of CodeMeter: ECG, blood pressure, and spirometry data are acquired and integrated in hospital information systems. Thanks to CodeMeter, they have unlimited flexibility in offering individual license models, from single-user applications in medical practices to large hospital projects.
