AWARD CardWare - Problems with virtual drives

Share:

Problem: If you install the AWARD CardWare software via the Express Setup it will also install drivers for ATA-, Flash- and SRAM-PCMCIA cards. The Windows Explorer displays these as additional virtual drives. Some applications that scan all drives and even the Explorer itself may report errors when they try to access these virtual drives.

Reason: It results from a bug in AWARD CardWare, or from wrong error handling with non existing PCMCIA cards.

Solution: Install CardWare using only the Custom Setup and deselect the other devices or use the devices control panel applet to disable the kernel drivers PCATA.SYS, PCDISK.SYS, PCSRAM.SYS and PCFLASH.SYS.
